Super Smith Supper #4

This morning at stake conference, Elder Schweizter of the second quorum of the seventy, invited us to take risks… saying:

“Heavenly Father wants you to take heavenly risks.”

“Too many people make too many plans.”

“Maybe you have doubts about the future, but Heavenly Father has a plan for you if you will but listen to the promptings of the Holy Spirit.”

His description of “heavenly risks” was similar to when Nephi “…was led by the Spirit [into the city of Jerusalem, where he was commanded to slay Laban], not knowing beforehand the things which [he] should do.” (1 Nephi 4:6). I think this is good life advice. We need to move forward when directed by the Spirit, even (and perhaps especially) when we don’t know what to expect!

This afternoon, I heard HWN while reading through several of my older journals and found this gem:

“If I were not to be given any more blessings, to me specifically, for the rest of my life, I would be content.”

I wrote that in January 2007 when I was in the MTC, almost 10 years ago! It was at the end of a pretty amazing day, and I felt full of happiness and gratitude :) … In reality, Heavenly Father has blessed me immensely since then, and I’m grateful for that. My perspective from that point is pretty admirable though, and I’d like to redevelop that!

This evening, we had our Fourth Super Smith Supper :)
