Tremble because of pain

Recently, I’ve pondered on the pain of the atonement (my HWN), “which suffering caused [Christ] the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit” (D&C 19:18). Part of this pain was the punishment of my sins…

I imagine the punishment for sin to be gaining a first-hand knowledge of the effects of sin — meaning that Christ experienced first-hand how my sins have effected the world — starting with myself, then those I directly offended, and then rippling out exponentially to everyone indirectly effected. When I consider how that might feel for even one of my poor decisions, it causes me to tremble and want to never sin again! Christ experienced this times infinity!
